World Championship Dainty Contest and Fest
One of Louisville’s most beloved and quirky traditions returns for its 56th year in the heart of Schnitzelburg. The World Championship Dainty Contest celebrates an obscure German street game that has become a treasured local pastime, drawing spectators to George Hauck Way for bologna sandwiches, ragtime music, and plenty of friendly competition. Contestants take their turn swinging a hand-carved broomstick, all hoping to earn the coveted title of World Dainty Champion.
