With the increased exposure of the WNBA and women’s basketball in general, dreams of going pro seem a lot more real. However, in 1998, when the WNBA was just getting started, those dreams were still mostly just that. That was on top of the realities some women’s high school basketball players were having to handle, issues that are still relevant today.
Actors Theatre will present FLEX, focusing on the Lady Train, a women’s basketball team trying to make the state championship. The team members are also dealing with real life issues including a teenage pregnancy and being black and young in rural Arkansas.
