From the modest church pews of Springfield, Ohio, singing gospel hymns and family harmonies, to sold-out stages worldwide and rare EGOT status, John Legend has become one of the most revered voices in contemporary music. Today, the singer-songwriter, pianist, and producer brings his acclaimed intimate theater tour, A Night of Songs & Stories, to Louisville’s Whitney Hall at the Kentucky Center on April 12, 2026 as part of the Glenview Trust Enriching Life Series.
Audience publisher Doug Dreisbach caught up with the famed singer to talk about his Midwestern roots, the pivotal moments that launched his career, his collaborative songwriting process, and what makes his current solo tour so special.
Louisville’s festival scene is alive and well, and for fans of the Grateful Dead, and there’s one weekend that stands out above the rest. The Grateville Dead Music Festival returns this weekend — Friday through Sunday, October 17–19 — at the Brown-Forman Amphitheater at Waterfront Park. What began as a small, one-day gathering of local Deadheads has evolved into a beloved three-day celebration of music, community, and creative spirit.
To mark the festival’s 10th anniversary, Audience Magazine caught up with co-founder Ashley Angel, who, along with local entrepreneur Dennie Humphrey, launched the festival back in 2015. What started as a spontaneous idea has grown into one of Louisville’s most unique and soulful music events.

In a recent conversation with Audience Magazine, Gaffigan offered a spirited preview of what fans can expect from his upcoming Louisville performances, which he’s dubbed his “Bourbon Set.”
“My bourbon awakening—my bourbon birth, if you will—happened during the pandemic,” Gaffigan said. “Since then, I’ve developed material about bourbon, American whiskey, the culture, the history, and just my general obsession with it.”
Louisville audiences will be the first to see this specialized show, though still part of his “Everything is Wonderful” tour, the Louisville performances are designed as a celebration of Kentucky’s signature spirit and its cultural impact. In addition, he will also be appearing at the Bourbon & Beyond Music Festival on Sunday Sept. 14th for part of their Fork & Flask culinary and bourbon experiences.
Kentucky Performing Arts (KPA) is the nucleus for performing arts and entertainment in Louisville. Hosting over 400,000 visitors annually for Broadway in Louisville performances, Louisville Orchestra concerts, headlining entertainers and more, the organization is also a big proponent of Kentucky’s cultural and economic growth, contributing millions to the local economy, as well as an advocate for arts education with programs like the Governor’s School for the Arts. KPA champions accessibility, nurtures young talent, and strengthens communities through artistic expression.
KPA owns and oversees The Kentucky Center, Brown Theatre, and Old Forester’s Paristown Hall, which all host a variety of performances each year under the direction of CEO Kim Baker. Kim was in the first class of the Governor’s School for the Arts. She also received her Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Kentucky’s College of Fine Arts and has navigated the group through its many peaks and valleys since 2014.

Broadway in Louisvillehas been bringing the best Broadway productions to Whitney Hall at The Kentucky Center since the early 1980s, including hit productions of Hamilton, Wicked, CATS and more. You will always find a wide selection of performances on the schedule, ranging from adult-oriented productions to ones geared more toward families and children. Plus, there is always a beloved classic sprinkled into the line-up, which always makes it exciting!
