This concert explores music inspired by mining communities, Appalachian landscapes, and the lives of working people. Led by Teddy Abrams and performed by the Louisville Orchestra with the Louisville Chamber Choir, the program features works by Aaron Copland, Carl Ruggles, Franz Schubert, Jean Ritchie, and Julia Wolfe. Centered around Wolfe’s powerful coal mining work Anthracite Fields, the concert honors labor, history, and Appalachian cultural identity through orchestral and choral music.
