The long-awaited return for the Railbird Music Festival is finally over and this weekend will mark the return of two-days of music, food and fun for the first time since 2021. Considering that the event sold out in less than three hours, we would have to say that the fantastic line-up combined with a venue change was a great decision.
Debuting in 2019, the 2-day music festival was originally hosted on the historic grounds of Keeneland Racecourse. This year, it will take place in the infield at the Red Mile Racecourse in Lexington. The weather looks great and the production company is expecting nothing less than amazing with a top tier setlist featuring artists such as Zach Bryan, Tyler Childers, Weezer, Sheryl Crow, and more. In addition to the music, the festival also provides premium bourbon offerings and one-of-a-kind equine betting experiences.
The festival set-up will be new for fans and producers alike as the move to The Red Mile infield provides some added benefits for logistics to an already great set-up. The Red Mile is in Lexington about a mile from the University of Kentucky, and about an hour and a half from Louisville so conveniently located to get to if you are fortunate enough to have a ticket. There will be three stages, The limestone Stage located in the North end of the infield and will showcase most of your top headliner bands, and then the Elkhorn abd Burl stages are located in the Southeast part of the infield and will host some of the up-and-coming bands, so be sure to check them out.
The Limestone stage will host Zach Bryan, Tyler Childers, Nathaniel Rateliff, and many others throughout the weekend and the Elkhorn and Burl Stage will host artists like Whiskey Myers, Town Mountain, and Charles Wesley Godwin.
The 2021 festival hit a few snags on the Saturday event with long lines, insufficient water, and lack of parking but the 2023 producers seem assured to have it worked out and have added water stations around the festival grounds, more food and beverage tents and parking for guests.
Both days are sure to impress guests and the Saturday line-up will be a great kick-off with artists like Zach Bryan, Marcus Mumford, and Whiskey Myers. Saturday will start the day off with many up-and-coming artists including. Madeline Edwards (1:30-2:15 P.M) and Wayne Graham (1:30-2:15 P.M) and will really get going with Neal Francis on The Limestone Stage at 2:15 P.M., then Sheryl Crow (5:30-6:30 P.M) followed by Marcus Mumford (7:15-8:15 P.M). The rock band of the 1990’s and 2000’s, Weezer, will rock the Elkhorn Stage from 8:15-9:30 with hits such as Say It Ain’t So, Buddy Holly and Beverly Hills just to name a few. After Weezer, you will need to boogie over to the Saturday headliner, and one of the biggest country stars out now, Zach Bryan (9:30-11 P.M) who will round out the night with hits such as Something in the Orange, Oklahoma Smokeshow, Heading South, Dawns, and Burn Burn Burn.
The Sunday line-up is sure to bring back more great music including Bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs (3-4pm) on The Limestone Stage with classics like Highway 40 Blues, Uncle Pen, and many more. Amos Lee (4:45-5:45pm) will follow Skaggs on the Limestone Stage, performing his style of folk, rock, and soul music. Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats (6:45-8pm) will be next in line on The Limestone Stage with their smooth jazz and rock melodies and hits such as S.O.B., I Need Never Get Old, and You Worry Me. Then, to round out the night with the first of the weekend, Tyler Childers will have a two-hour jam session from 9:00 to 11:00 with hits like Lady May, Feathered Indians, Nose On The Grindstone, All Your’n, and many more.
Tickets to the festival are sold out but there are options offered by official resellers that can be found via RailbirdFest.com. Be careful buying tickets from un-authorized sources as there are fraudulent activities that might leave you down and out come showtime.
